“ENDURING” means BEYOND LOSING MENTAL CAPACITY with the result that instead of you, those you appoint become in charge of making decisions about your accommodation, medical treatment & generally decisions as to your welfare.
Consideration needs to be given to empowering people that you trust and who care for you, to make decisions regarding your future medical treatment and life style in the event that you are incapable of making those decisions yourself.
If you were to become incapacitated and unable to look after your affairs without appointing your guardian, then the government will appoint a guardian from the Office of the Protective Commission to manage your affairs.
We recommend that whilst you are able to do so, you make the selection yourself. We can assist you by preparing Enduring Guardianship documentation.
