A Power of Attorney is a legal instrument whereby a person can empower another to sign certain documents on their behalf.

It operates while the person is alive and has mental capacity if signed before a barrister, solicitor or clerk of a local court.
This document is particularly useful for elderly people who may be travelling overseas and can empower their children, relatives or advisors to act on there behalf.
Similarly if you become incapacitated, a Power of Attorney can also make organising your legal and financial affairs that much simpler.
